2004 was chosen as the year to celebrate our Past, Present and Future. The hospital originated in 1903 when a group of Redlands physicians started a clinic on Vine Street and called it Redlands Hospital. By 1904, construction began on a new hospital at 302 Nordina Street. The hospital stayed on Nordina Street until the late 1920s, when local citizens realized the need for a larger hospital. Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Cope soon donated 17 acres of Terracina Park to build a new hospital. In 1929, soon after the hospital incorporated, the first patient was admitted to the newly-constructed one-story hospital at 350 Terracina Boulevard. During the past 75 years, Redlands Community Hospital has made numerous additions and remodels. In 2004, the hospital celebrates 100 years of providing healthcare in the community and 75 years at its present site on Terracina Boulevard. This year was also selected as the year of celebration because $60 million in new construction has begun... making 2004 truly a Memorable Year. |
