Employee of the Month January 2004

Pola Nainggolan's people skills are a big reason why she was chosen as the January Employee of the Month.

She makes good use of these skills as she works in the Discharge Lounge, assisting patients who are preparing to go home.

"Since she took over the Discharge Lounge, she goes above and beyond to get the discharged patients to the lounge," Madonna Coughenour explained as she read Pola's nomination form.

"She continually makes rounds on all of the units to see if there are discharges. If there are, she helps get the patient dressed and ready to go."

Statistics show that she has nearly doubled the use of the lounge since she transferred to that position after working in 5100 for many months.

Her co-workers and supervisors also noted that if there are no patients to assist in the lounge, she does not hesitate relieving other staff members, helping the unit secretaries and has helped out in the staffing office.

Pola was hired at RCH in April of 1999. Her husband and son were on hand during her celebration earlier this month.
