Cancer
Treatment - Radiation Therapy/Oncology
Redlands
Community Hospital recognizes that in the fight against cancer, the
best defense is a great offense. Early detection is the key,
and our Radiology Department plays a significant role.
Using
a more powerful type of radiation than regular x-rays, the goal of
radiation therapy is to destroy cancer cells (unlike the rest of the
radiology department where detection is the goal). RCH recently
finished a $2 million dollar upgrade in equ ipment to better serve
the community. The typical patient will have a CT exam to locate the
tumor or lesion. This information is used to map the afflicted area
so the physician can treat the specific area with less damage to the
surrounding tissue.
